Ceppo sradicato (uprooted tree trunk), 2018
The project Ceppo Sradicato translocates the stump of a fallen and sawn stone pine at the Via Tiburtina alley in front of the cemetery Campo Verano in Rome to the exhibition space. The artist engages in the work with topics of migration and transplantation, as they are described i.a. in Gilles Clément's writings on the Third Landscape. Uprooting becomes visible here as a matter of environment and context. The bared root of the sawn-off pine on the sterile floor of the exhibition space recalls the relationship of life to the earth, as well as their conscious separation, for example, in still life (in Italian: natura morta).
The process of transplanting the tree stump is documented.
